Forged steel head. Heat-treated working ends produce fine grain structure and RC 45 to 55 (Rockwell hardness value) for safety, edge holding and toughness. Red enamel-coated body and clear lacquer cutting edge to discourage rust. Hickory handle. Dry section to a moisture content below 10% to minimize shrinkage and help prevent loosening.

The head of the handle is inserted into the handle and fixed with a serrated aluminium wedge, made of resistant, lightweight material and does not expand or contract depending on humidity or temperature. The serrated shape of the wedge improves the bite. The head fixing hole is elongated and allows a strong mechanical connection.
